Origin and History (历史起源)

Peking Opera (Jingju) has a history of over 200 years. It began in 1790 when four famous opera groups from Anhui came to Beijing to perform for the Emperor’s 80th birthday. 京剧已有 200 多年的历史。它始于 1790 年，当时四大著名的徽班进京为乾隆皇帝八十寿辰演出。

Later, they stayed in Beijing and mixed their art with other local operas. In the late 19th century, Peking Opera became a complete art system and the most popular opera in China. 后来，他们留在北京，将徽剧与其他地方戏曲融合。在 19 世纪末，京剧形成了一个完整的艺术体系，并成为中国最流行的剧种。

In 2010, it was added to the UNESCO list of Intangible Cultural Heritage. It is now a symbol of Chinese culture. 2010 年，京剧被列入联合国教科文组织非物质文化遗产名录。它现在是中华文化的象征。
